PISTACHIO!!!! Wasn't expecting to enjoy this, I am a purist normally.. It was actually very nice, smooth custard and the pistachio flavouring complemented it nicely. An unexpected high score.

While the coverage does not look great in the photo, it was nicely covered and had a good consistent crack. Nice custard below and nicely chilled, biscuits not really needed. The blackberries were an ok addition, different to the usual raspberry.

Given this was a Chinese all you can eat buffet restaurant I wasn’t expecting to find a crème brûlée and when I did, I wasn’t expecting much. Classic case here of not judging a book (or Brûlée) by its cover. It was v small, a teaspoon just fitted in the dish, but the crack was good, the flavouring spot on and it was velvety smooth. Minus points for being very small (but I’ll admit I went back for 2 more)

Shallow dish, which often means a warmer custard, but not in this case, smooth custard and a decent crack. A bit more sugar at the edges would have added to the score.

Top coverage was good, could have been a bit thicker, sorbet on the top is not usually my thing, but it complemented the custards flavouring nicely. Clean presentation, and the tuile decoration wasn't too sweet.

Another Chinese restaurant another unexpected Creme Brûlée. This one was a decent size (see Tasty Wok) but hadn’t quite been baked enough so was slightly too runny. The sugar top, while not looking browned enough, gave a good coverage and crack. Flavouring was a bit lacking too. Things to be worked on.
